As our contribution to the 2009 Bicentennial of the
founding of Schenectady County, SCHS has commissioned a
beautifully illustrated coffee-table size book, Historic
Schenectady County, authored by Gazette Newspapers
feature writer Bill Buell and edited by Society President
Ed Reilly. The book will be published in spring 2009. The
illustration is a draft of its front-to-back wraparound
dust jacket. In addition to the narrative, which covers the
founding of Schenectady by Arendt van Curler in 1661
through the present, the book will include images of additional
paintings by Tantillo and others and a section of profiles
of the historic Schenectady businesses who are supporting its
publication.
